We are very grateful for the improvement in our daughter's playing after taking private lessons with Louis. Even more important, her enjoyment and appreciation of music increased, which has resulted in self-motivation and self-study beyond anything we could have expected.
-Michele & Jeff, parents
Louis is the sort of inspirational teacher whose impact continues to be a part of one's life long after formal studies with him conclude. I remember first falling in love with the viola and still treating it as a "hobby," until Louis demanded more. His inspirational exposure to all aspects of the music world combined with his unwavering demand for his students to be able to express everything they wish through performance make Louis a uniquely supportive and successful educator that students in the valley are lucky to have as a resource. He transformed my perception of viola from a kind of side project to the center of my life. Thanks to Louis I am happily pursuing viola performance at Peabody Conservatory where I find myself implementing both Louis's passionate approach to music and his respectful approach to colleague relationships on a daily basis.
-Melina, former student
I have had the pleasure of seeing Louis work with students for several years now, both in his private studio work and as a section coach for our orchestras. I always appreciate the professionalism and mastery he brings in his teaching and in working with others. He has a great ability to relate well with his students while challenging them to be the best they can be, and I highly recommend him as a string instructor.

Private lessons with Mr. Privitera made an enormous difference in my progress with both the viola and piano. Mr. P is a patient and fun teacher and can take a student's ability to a much higher level.
-Olivia, student
After graduating with his Master’s Degree from the Peabody Conservatory, my former student Louis Privitera embarked on a career as a quartet musician and studio teacher. In three years, Louis has proven himself an extremely capable instructor, having already sent me a student to study with me for her undergraduate degree. His teaching instilled her with the necessary skills to thrive in a competitive conservatory environment.
